Containers and trust

Automatic container protection, manually locked doors, trust groups, portable access rules, and common setups.

Automatic protection

Player-placed storage blocks are protected automatically. This includes chests, barrels, shulker boxes, hoppers, furnaces, and other containers. There are no lock holograms and no separate setup step.

Protected hoppers and redstone containers continue to transfer items normally. Protection controls direct player access and breaking; it does not disable a working contraption.

Doors and trapdoors

Doors and trapdoors are never locked automatically. Look directly at one and use /lock when you deliberately want to protect it.

A locked door or trapdoor follows the same local trust, transfer, inspection, and unlock commands as a container. Unauthorized players cannot open it, trigger it with redstone, or destroy it with pistons, explosions, or entities.

Automatic trust applies to containers placed afterward, not to doors or trapdoors. Each access block must be locked deliberately.

Share all your containers

Global trust is the simplest option for a teammate. It applies to every container you own, including containers you place later. A trusted player can open and help break your shared containers.

Commands
  • /trust <player>Share all containers with one player.
  • /untrust <player>Remove that global access.
  • /trust <g:group>Share all containers with one of your trust groups.

There is no global /trust everyone shortcut. Use /trusthere everyone only on the specific container you intend to make public.

Share one container

Look directly at a container to change only that container. Local rules are useful for shared storage, donation chests, and team projects that should not expose the rest of your base.

Commands
  • /trusthere <player | g:group>Give local access to the targeted container, door, or trapdoor.
  • /untrusthere <player | g:group>Remove local access from the targeted container, door, or trapdoor.
  • /trusthere everyoneLet everyone open the targeted container while ownership remains protected.

Trust groups and automatic trust

Trust groups let you reuse one named list across several containers. Automatic trust is a placement template: it copies selected player or group access into containers you place afterward without changing containers that already exist.

Commands
  • /trustgroup create <name>Create a reusable group.
  • /trustgroup add <group> <player>Add a player to a group.
  • /trustgroup remove <group> <player>Remove a player from a group.
  • /trustgroup list [group]List your groups or one group's members.
  • /autotrust <player | g:group>Copy access to containers you place from now on.
  • /autotrust listReview your current placement template.

Unlock, relock, or transfer

Commands
  • /unlockRemove protection from the targeted container, door, or trapdoor.
  • /lockRestore container protection or deliberately lock a door or trapdoor.
  • /locktransfer <player>Transfer ownership while retaining the targeted lock's local access settings.

Use /trusthere everyone for a public-use chest that should remain protected. Use /unlock only when other players should also be able to break the container.

Portable access rules

A container with explicit local trust, public access, or an intentional unlocked state remembers those rules when broken and placed again. Its item lore summarizes the carried access.

Plain private containers without special local rules remain clean items. When placed, they simply belong to the player who placed them.

Hold an empty container and use the editor to prepare its access before placement. Crouch and left-click while holding it is a shortcut. One configured empty container can also be crafted with one to eight plain empty containers of the same type to copy its access rules. Stored contents and unresolved loot cannot be copied.

Commands
  • /trusteditorEdit access carried by the container in your main hand.

Profiles and double chests

Container ownership follows the active save profile. When an account has several profiles, profile-qualified names are shown where needed so trust can target the correct save.

Both halves of a double chest must resolve to the same owner. If an old chest has conflicting owners, staff can repair or unlock it without affecting an adjacent chest.
