Farming and cooking
Tea Shrubs, kegs, new 1.12.1 Alpha foods and ingredients, upgraded meals, and cooking corrections.
Tea Shrubs
Tea Shrubs can be found in jungles, sparse jungles, bamboo jungles, swamps, and mangrove swamps. They also grow from Tea Seeds on farmland or common grassy and earthy surfaces.
Shrubs grow through visible custom stages at about wheat-like pace. Mature plants provide Tea Leaves and replacement seeds.
Matcha Tea
Load four Tea Leaves into a keg and collect the finished batch with Wooden Mugs. One batch produces four Matcha Teas.
Matcha Tea grants Haste III for two minutes and Regeneration II for two seconds.
Keg brewing
Kegs keep their batch and fermentation progress persistently. Beer, Cider, Wine, Kombucha, Dandelion Tea, and Matcha Tea use the same physical brewing interaction with the vessel appropriate to that recipe.
Most recipes take four ingredients and produce four drinks. Cider produces four from one Apple, and Kombucha also produces four. A Pint or Wooden Mug is reusable where its drink calls for one; Kombucha is collected with Glass Bottles.
Sneaking placement is respected, so you can still place blocks against a keg instead of every right-click being treated as brewing.
Fermented drinks and meals
Beer, Cider, and Wine are cooking ingredients rather than efficient standalone buffs. Drinking one directly gives short Nausea and Slowness.
Combine each brew with its matching base meal to move the useful effects onto food: Beer-Crust Pizza, Apple Cider French Toast, and Wine-Braised Stroganoff. These meals retain their normal food value and add the brew's Speed and Haste effects.
New food and ingredients
The 1.12.1 Alpha adds Oil, Seitan, Molasses, Molasses Sugar, Pumpkin Curry, Nopales, Bubbling Mead, Bunuelos, Fish and Chips, Ice Cream, Lumpia, Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, and four varieties of Dino Nuggets.
Seitan provides vegetarian versions of curries and ramen. Oil is made with a Glass Bottle and either Sunflowers or Cocoa Beans and is used by the appropriate curry, ramen, Gimmari, and Pupusa recipes.
- Pad Thai now grants Night Vision for 10 minutes.
- Baked Pumpkin grants Resistance for 30 seconds.
- Latkes restore six hearts instead of eight.
- Pickled Warped Fungus can be thrown to apply five minutes of Invisibility where it lands.
These recipes and food-effect values are active Alpha balance and may still change.
Bags of Sugar
Fill a crafting grid with nine Sugar to make one Bag of Sugar. Crafting the bag by itself returns all nine Sugar, matching the existing Flour Bag storage pattern.
Other cooking changes
- Food healing no longer loses unfinished regeneration when another healing food is eaten.
- Hellbricks are made by smelting Netherrack in an Oven.
- Dry-grass Campfire recipes cook twice as quickly.
- Recipe Book unlocks were corrected across cooking, Kiln, Oven, blasting, stonecutting, concrete, glass, bamboo, mushroom, ice, and other conversion recipes.
