Faster minecarts
Build high-speed rail routes with Powered Rails reinforced by Hepatizon.
Tempered Rails
A Tempered Rail is a Powered Rail reinforced with Hepatizon. Powered Tempered Rails accelerate a moving minecart toward a maximum of 32 blocks per second, four times the ordinary vanilla minecart cap.
The raised speed cap remains active for three seconds after the cart last crosses a powered Tempered Rail. This lets a short powered acceleration section feed into ordinary rails, although longer routes need another Tempered Rail before the boost expires.
Crafting
The shapeless recipe combines four Powered Rails with one Bronze Alloy and produces four Tempered Rails.
- 1
Add four Powered Rails
They provide the rail base for the whole output batch.
- 2
Add one Bronze Alloy
The Hepatizon reinforcement applies to all four rails.
- 3
Take four Tempered Rails
The recipe is shapeless, so ingredient positions do not matter.
Powering and placement
Power Tempered Rails exactly like ordinary Powered Rails using a Redstone Torch, Lever, Redstone Block, powered Redstone Dust, or another normal redstone source. An unpowered Tempered Rail does not provide its speed boost.
A stopped cart still needs an ordinary launch force. Use a powered rail against a solid block, push the cart, or enter the boosted section with some existing movement.
Building a fast route
- Place several powered Tempered Rails near a station or acceleration point so the cart reaches high speed quickly.
- Refresh the three-second boost along long lines before the cart returns to its ordinary maximum speed.
- Keep curves and arrival areas deliberate; 32 blocks per second covers terrain quickly.
- Breaking a placed Tempered Rail returns the Tempered Rail item rather than an ordinary Powered Rail.
