Regional fishing

Regional fish and treasure can be caught underground and in water of any shape or size; nearby ceilings, ice, vegetation, and pond geometry do not force catches into junk.

Angler's Almanac and Fishing Journal

Novice Fishermen sell the Angler's Almanac. It contains 16 fishing regions and 85 individual catch pages, with each page revealed after you catch that fish in the applicable region.

Every caught Matcha fish is also recorded by species, quality, biome region, and largest measured catch. The Almanac, journal, and fishing advancements share profile-specific discovery progress and can recognize previously recorded catches.

Fish size is stored as a record rather than in item lore, so otherwise identical fish continue to stack normally.

Catch sounds and fish trading

Fish use different catch sounds based on rarity. Treasure, junk, frogs, Axolotls, Fish Bones, Nautilus Shells, and Enchanted Books also have distinct sounds controlled by the Records/Jukebox volume slider.

Fishermen buy Matcha fish across all five profession levels. Recognized older fish are repaired to the current identity so they remain stackable and tradeable with newly caught fish.

Fishing shimmers

Rare shimmering spots appear on suitable water while players explore. Sparkles and bubbles mark the surface. Cast into the shimmer to consume it and guarantee a reward from the fishing treasure pool.

A shimmer may also provide a Divine Fragment. The chance is 5% with Luck of the Sea I, 10% with II, and 15% with III.

Treasure balance

• Fishing treasure and junk use the current Alpha balance, including Crystal Hearts, buried-treasure crates, Enchanted Books, Fish Bones, and Nautilus Shells.
• Estus Ash can appear in fishing junk, providing a peaceful source.
• Unattended fishing farms are restricted; normal active fishing is unaffected.
